That’s it everyone! Auditions for Rainbow Dash are officially closed. Later today, we will determine who will become the new voice actress for Rainbow Dash in Journey of the Spark.

We are actually in the Production Stage right now. This includes working on Backgrounds and Animation.

How long will this be? All the photos suggest something really long.

The current estimated running time for Journey of the Spark is approximately 2 hrs. and 15 min. The running time is only an estimate and could be either longer or shorter when it comes closer to completion.

Yes. Spike is one of the primary characters of the story and is featured prominently in the film.

How far into Season 2 does the continuity go, as you are not using any continuity from Season 3.

Without revealing too much, we took everything from Season 2 into account when writing the story.

How much content should we have on our DeviantArt, Youtube, exec. When submitting an application to join the Journey of the Spark production team? And also, is it okay to use mobile applications such as Adobe ideas or photoshop touch when working on character,background, storyboard, or concept art and editing them on a computer version of one of those apps like Illustrator, flash, after affects, or photoshop?

In terms of how much content you should submit, really you can submit as much as you feel is necessary to get the point across. To answer your question, I have not heard of Adobe Ideas. But I would suggest following the application instructions and using the recommended software.

How long does it normally take for a reply with an application?

There is no pre-determined period of time for how long it takes us to reply. If we’re not fully busy, we’ll be able to respond to your application as soon as possible. If production holds us back a bit, it may take a couple of weeks before we get back to you.

Don’t be discouraged! If you don’t get a reply right away, shoot us an E-Mail and express your concerns. That’s what our E-Mail is for!

Wanted: Rainbow Dash Voice Actress!! Auditions Open

Due to changes in her schedule, we are sad to say that Jenny Nicholson has dolefully had to step down as the voice of Rainbow Dash in Journey of the Spark. We’ve enjoyed working with Jenny as much as she has enjoyed working with us and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.

Because of this, we have decided to initiate an open casting call to find a new voice actress for Rainbow Dash in the production. For anyone interested in auditioning for the role, feel free to the click past the break to find out all of the details.

To audition for Journey of the Spark, we have a few simple guidelines to follow. These include:

A Microphone of Good Quality
Audio files included in your audition should be in .mp3 or .wav format
Your audition should contain zero sound effects (pops, beeps, blips, cilcks, etc.)
To be accepted for the role, you need to be able to act and sing. We are not looking for 100% accuracy. If it sounds close enough to Rainbow Dash, that will be fine. But we are particularly looking for someone who can give the right inflections and emotions.
All auditions are to be E-Mailed to us at officialsparkmovie@gmail.com with the Header of message saying “Journey of the Spark Audition - Rainbow Dash”
You are welcome to add additional lines that are NOT listed below in your auditions. If you choose to do so, please make sure you label them as “EXTRA” when E-Mailing them to us. For those who wish to send additional lines, we would prefer original pieces of dialogue rather than lines taken directly from the show. We are looking for actors, not imitators.

So now that you know what you need to do for your audition, here are the lines that are required for you to read. Please note that these lines are not from the script and you will not have a direct reference. These will test out your emotional range:

Rainbow Dash: [Impatient and annoyed] We’re not lost! We just don’t know where exactly we need to go!
Pinkie Pie: (So We’re lost!)
Rainbow Dash: No no! There’s a difference!
Rainbow Dash: [Sentimental] You’ll understand when you’re older. But now I gotta go find Twilight. She can’t run away from her friends that easily. Not if I have anything to say about it. Keep those friends of yours close, and make sure they don’t do anything stupid… cause you never know what’ll happen. Okay?
Rainbow Dash: [Angry] That’s it you lame excuse of a chimera! You’ve gone too far! It’s on now!
Rainbow Dash: [Confident] I’ll never give up! Not until I find my friend and bring her home safe and sound!

For Rainbow Dash’s singing, please record at least one of Rainbow Dash’s verses from “Winter Wrap-Up” , “Find a Pet”, “At the Gala” and “What My Cutie Mark is Telling Me”.

Hi, Eric! I so cannot wait for what's in store for Journey of the Spark anytime soon! I have a couple of questions to ask. Since the events of the episode, "Sleepless in Ponyville", where Rainbow Dash put Scootaloo under her wing, due to Princess Luna's helpful advice from facing Scootaloo's fears, do you think that will adapt to your movie?

As we stated before, we are not taking any episodes from season 3 into account for the movie, since the writing for the story was already happening when season 2 came around. However, we did adapt to the events of season 2 but afterwards decided that we can’t consider any upcoming seasons, since we would never manage to finish the story and animate everything if we did.

Just a friendly reminder everyone. PON3Con is literally less than a week away and some of the crew and I are going to be presenting some brand new material from Journey of the Spark on Saturday, May 11th! So if you’re gonna be in Omaha, Nebraska for the convention, stop by our panel to get an inside look at some brand new material from the film.

Get excited everyone! The Convention Tour is finally about to start!

I realize this has probably been asked before, but I went back a ways in the questions and I couldn't find it, so I apologize if this is a repeat. BUT: With the continuity established as of "Keep Calm and Flutter On," how are you explaining Discord's role in the movie, i.e. an antagonist? Is this an alternate continuity, or is it simply assumed he was acting the part to fool everyone?

This is a question we get asked almost all the time. I feel the best way to explain why Discord’s role isn’t changing to how he is portrayed in “Keep Calm and Flutter On”, I would need to give a bit of insight as to when the story for Journey of the Spark was being written.

Journey of the Spark was first conceived back in November of 2011, around the time that Season 2 was still being aired. By the time that the film’s story was fully finished, Season 3 wasn’t even on television yet, with only a small handful of promotional material being released. But given all the speculation surrounding the upcoming season, I told the team that I wanted to bar using references from Season 3 and onward as I felt that the film would become a slave to the continuity and would never be made.

So essentially, Journey of the Spark became its own story with only the first two seasons serving as sources of inspiration and pieces of continuity found within the film’s story. Any references made to Season 3 and onward are completely coincidental. So while Discord’s character has changed due to the show’s continuity, Journey of the Spark still retains the idea of Discord as an antagonist.

I'm so hyped about this movie! Seeing it has 8 songs and i think a good story,i think it will be worth the wait! I want to ask you,since I'm probably never gonna go on a brony con,will you make your movie available on youtube or some video site? Good luck with this project, you guys just made my day :)

No need to fear! Journey of the Spark will be released publicly online on YouTube and other video sites once our Convention screenings have concluded. The film currently has a tentative release date for the Summer of 2015!

Hi there. I can't wait for this project to come to fruition. I noticed that you plan on making a convention tour. Besides BronyCon, what other cons are you planning on attending?

For our Convention Tour, we’ll be presenting panels/presentations at PON3Con in Omaha, Nebraska from May 10-12th and BronyCon in Baltimore, Maryland from August 2-4th.

I will also be attending Everfree Northwest from July 5-7th in Seattle, Washington but we probably will not be presenting at that convention. So I will casually be walking about if anyone wishes to meet me!

Now that you have the voice of Discord, Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Princess Celestia, how far are you guys about to be done with the teaser trailer?

A Teaser Trailer will not be released anytime soon. When we are ready to release a trailer, we will make the announcement. In the meantime though, production on the film comes first.

Don’t fret though! We will have some previews to show for the Convention Tour we’re doing this Summer!
