Eric Ridenour was born in Anaheim, California on April 1, 1993. From the start, Eric knew that his lifelong dream was to become a film director when he saw the 1982 Steven Spielberg film E.T. The Extra Terrestrial at an early age.
Since then, Eric has taken it upon himself to study everything there is to know about film-making and animation, citing filmmakers such as Hayao Miyazaki, Steven Spielberg, and Tim Burton for influencing him to tell dark, emotionally-driven stories with a touch of sentimentality, inspired greatly by the events of his personal life as well as his favorite films.
Beyond film directing, Eric has voiced and edited in many different freelance projects online, showcasing both his singing and acting capabilities as well as his directorial abilities by producing popular audio dramas such as the Disney-inspired The Kingdom Chronicles: Dark Emissary and Metroid: A Radioplay Adaptation, based on the video game franchise of the same name created by Japanese video gaming publisher Nintendo.
Eric was also featured on the Disney Acting/Singing Competition series The Wonderful World of Disney in which he competed for 6 episodes and currently voices and directs on the improvisational comedy show My Little Pony: The Brony Edition.
Currently, Eric is attending Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California to get his degree in Film. With Journey of the Spark, Eric plans to achieve his lifelong goal of revitalizing the genre of animated films by presenting more adult and mature themes for children in a respectable light.
Beyond the My Little Pony universe, Eric’s main interests involve anything pertaining to Science-Fiction and Fantasy, with particular shows and franchises such as Doctor Who, ThunderCats, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Gravity Falls, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Green Lantern, and Avatar: The Last Airbender being among some of his favorites.
Eric also happens to have his very own Tumblr blog! To follow his daily escapades, follow him here!
